I'm using Firefox with Startpage. LP used to work fine in private windows but now when I click on the extension it just opens a white box.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
Hello everyone,
Our team is aware of and investigating this issue when using LastPass in a Private Firefox window, while we do not yet have an ETA for when this will be resolved we have found a workaround to use in the meantime which another user here has also pointed out:
Right click on the blank extension dropdown/window.
Select "this frame"
Select "open frame in new tab/window"
We will update this thread once we have more info on a fix/update for the extension to fix this issue as well. I am marking this as the solution for this thread so that other users who experience this issue and view this thread can fix the workaround as quickly as possible.
Similar. LP has been great. I had no issues with it not working in a private window until a month or so ago. I thought it might just be a dodgy update. surprised it hasn't been rectified before now.

Sorry, I misunderstood the way the solution was presented. I thought it meant the you had marked it solved, not that your question was solved. My bad. 😕
<rant mode>
This is the first real issue I've had with LastPass (and I've been using it for years), and LogMeIn's response to this issue has been less than stellar. While I'm aware that Firefox's share of the browser market is less than 10%, it's the browser I use and I expect the extensions I use to function properly, not for us to be greeted with 'we can't replicate this'. If only one person was having the issue then it could be user error, but it appears to be bigger than that.
</rant mode> 😞
lazza58 I'm curious why you marked this issue "Solved"? It is in no way solved. Until LastPass works a expected in a Private window it is not solved.
In the same boat. Also have uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger (et al.) extensions, but the defect still occurs even when I disable them (one, the other, or both) in private windows.
Frames comments above check out too. I too can "Show Only This Frame" and get a functional LP private tab. It doesn't really add any value, though, since it's not attached to (operating on) any active/current tab and so I might as well just use the drop-down version from a non-private window.
Thanks Christian.
That does the trick. I hope that LastPass / Firefox can get their heads together to sort this out.
Cheers
Until this gets fixed, I've found a workaround that seems usable.
On a blank tab in a private window, click on the LastPass icon. If it is the first time you'll need to click Accept. When you get the blank window, right click in the blank area. Go to This Frame and then Show Only This Frame. The tab will become the LastPass box, and you'll be able to use it like normal.
I am having the exact same issues. I do get the accept button, I click it to accept and then I also see the blank window.
Other extensions that are also in use are uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger too.
Hi @lazza58
I just tested this in the latest version of Firefox on Windows and was able to recreated the issue, after accepting the Firefox permissions the extension window loaded blank. I will check with the rest of support to see if this issue has been reported already and create a ticket if one does not exist.
I am also experiencing this issue with Firefox 93.0 on Windows 11. After clicking Accept on the Accept Permissions view, which appears just fine, the Firefox extension pop-out window is blank.
Firefox version: 93.0
LastPass Extension version: 4.81.0.3
Accept/Decline Permissions:
After clicking "ACCEPT":
Here are the steps I have completed to troubleshoot the issue:
- Uninstall the extension
- Restart computer
- re-install the extension
- Cleared cache/cookies in Firefox, closed out of the browser, and re-opened
Hi @Robbie8592 and @cbrillow,
When testing on our side we aren't able to reproduce this issue, although after clicking the LastPass icon in a Private window in Firefox we did need to click "Accept" to start using the LastPass extension. Could you try making sure cookies aren't being blocked when using Private windows/tabs, and also try disabling/re-enabling the LastPass extension in the Private tab/window to see if you can then click Accept and see if the extension works as it should?
I concur with Christian2001's post, above. Using Firefox 93.0. LastPass works normally in regular mode, but presents a blank slate in a private window. I can manually call up a site and LP will fill the username & PW, but often rely on selecting from a list of 'Recently Used' sites from the list that is now blank...
I have been successfully using LP in private windows for a long time. (Since the last time it was broken several years ago)
Edit: I have made sure that the latest version of the extension is installed, and that I've enabled it for use in private windows...
I can confirm this behavior after upgrading to Firefox 93.0. In my case, the blank LastPass box only shows in Private windows, it seems to work fine in normal/non-private windows.
LastPass still works fine in Private, it fills in my password, and recognizes when I've created a new password, the extension just doesn't show anything but a blank white box. That does make it hard to launch websites that I know I'm going to need to log into, since I rely on LastPass as a form of bookmark keeper for said sites.
Whenever I log in to my LastPass account on the Firefox extension it just goes blank after.
Firefox Version: 93.0
