Avast installed, now no access

Because of an email problem, I installed Avast Internet Security this past weekend - and now cannot connect to any of my remote computers. I can see them all and start the login process, but at the "confirming identity" step, Logmein disconnects. Thank goodness I've got another system with which I can connect -- but this concerns me and I'd like to get it resolved.

I had this issue as well but I fixed it, for me at least. Give it a try.

The issue was that hamachi has its own internet network when its ran.

If you open your control panel, network and internet, network and sharing center. you will find there is the router/wired connection and the hamachi connection.

To fix the issue, avast needs to know what to do with the other connection when its connected as a main network.

open the change adapter settings on the left side of network and sharing center
disable all networks. enable hamachi and avast should pick up the network. It will also give you options to set this network as public or private and if its a trusting network. Set it as private, and click on trust this network or anything similar on avast. You can also do that for any other networks that aren't being picked up simultaniously. Finally, enable wifi router/wired connection and you should be able to connect through logmein hamachi.

If it doesn't work, make sure your firewalls have hamachi as an exception. Hope this works for you as it did for me.

Actually this issue is more then 2 years old. I gave up trying to fix this issue with another program that Avast was fighting. I ended up uninstalling Avast out of frustration because disabling every piece of avast was not good enough to fix this problem. Eventually I gave up on the program and went back to Avast because as an antivirus it was that good. I never reported it because I thought it was an isolated case.

When using IE with Avast, must disable HTTPS Scanning, under Web Shield as reported. Exclusions don't seem to have any effect.

Interestingly, NO PROBLEM if using CHROME Browser.

Thank you - I actually stumbled across that and neglected to post the followup. It works pretty well - but I would expect Avast to offer some exclusion rules for the application...

I disable the Avast Web Shields Control for 10 minutes and then login to the remote workstation. You can actually re-enable the shields as soon as your remote desktop starts. By disabling for 10 minutes, I do not have to remember to turn them back on when I am finished. Disabling the shields is only for the password portion of the login to the remote desktop.

I agree, sir. I too hope this is addressed by Avast/LMI soon. I switched all our computers from AVG to Avast back in 2010, because of LMI issues.

I do wonder if this is just an issue with Pro. Earlier this week, our CPA used Central to log on to our bookkeeper's computer without any problems. The same applied to my using Client on a flash drive.

I exluded the latter portion of my url to my remote machine when connected...not sure if this works or not. It looks something like this...Exclusiuon: https://4884vg*

I think the HTTPS scanning is the actual temp fix in this case....I would like to re-enable that since it has not been a problem for 1-1/2 years now.

After disabling Avast's HTTPS scanning on both host & client computers, I can now log in. I didn't put anything in the exclusion list. Not the solution I wanted, but for now, it works.

envirocad, What was the wildcard you put in the exclusion settings? *.logmein.com ?

I've had the same issue ever since Avast updated to 10.0.2208. When I'm at the last step of logging on, I get error code 10054 [No error description found] and the connection drops. I contacted LMI Support and the reply from Richard Karban/User Services was not quite the answer I was looking for.

One thing that you can try is disabling Avast temporarily. Avast is usually the cause of an error 10054. I have dealt with many of these issues. The solution that always works for people that I assist with this is temporarily disabling Avast.

Posts on the Avast forum suggest the same as envirocad's solution.

I have Ignition (Client) on a flash drive. It connects and works without any changes to the Avast settings. I can transfer or delete files with no problems.

This may not be safe for other sites, but at least i do not have to disable the entire Avast now. If someone has a better way, please post it. Thanks!

I finally got mine to work by disabling the "Enable HTTPS scanning" withing the Web Shield Settings, and by adding an Exclusion URL with a wildcard to the Exclusions Settings within the Web Shield Settings.

I have just discovered this issue with the latest build of Avast obviously Alwil is interfering with SSL possibly when it shouldn't be and causing confirm identity stage to fail.

Avast Software get it sorted please as this issue is doing eveyone's nut in.

This is dissapointing, as Avast and LMI used be happy together.

Same problem. I can disable Avast for 10 minutes and I can use Log Me In fine.

Same problem here. i installed the Avast Update and now i have to terminate my Virus protection to remote using LogMeIn. Any suggested fix. I have tried to exclude the http address but does not work.
