I get logged out

I am trying to upload large files through the browser, but I am always loogged out after certain time and my files stop uploading, there's a message someting like "click anywhere in the screen or you will be looged out in five minutes". How can I avoid this and stay connected? My Pc is trusted so I shouldn't get logged out. Thanks for your help ...

Well, I opened a ticket with the Support service and this is what they say:

"The website has an idle time logout timer; there's no way to change it under a Pro account. Adding your computer to trusted devices will not circumvent the timer"

So the website treats you different if you are a Pro or if you upgrade to Central? Is it just a question of the money you spend with LMI? The solution is upgrading to Central, so this is the end of the story, believe me right now I am not a happy customer ... :smileysad:

Sincerely, I don't think my connection speed is the problem, actually I was uploading just a file, when it finished it stayed stall for more than half an hour and I wasn't logged out, Chris said after 15 minutes of inactivity you are logged out, I have tested it more than three times and that isn't true, I don't know why te webpage has to throw you away like garbage every now and then, lack of security? The problem would finish with webpage settings for the sessions available, like in the Client, thanks anyway for your help ...

As I expected.

What is your ISP plan? U & D?

As a test, plug your PC directly into the ISP modem. You may have to to a IPCONFIG /flushdns and if you are using a static ip change your adapter to automatically assign ip and dns.

Run your speedtest again. charter.speedtest.net, comcast.speedtest.net etc, then do a mtu test in command console. You will likeky see a big difference without a router. That is what must be solved.

You should be able to tweak this to maximize your upload and download.

This may be the problem:

"I can see from the speedtest.net screenshot and the other bandwidth screenshot that your upload speed is very slow. We recommend a minimum upload and download speed of 1.5 Mb/s; your upload speed is somewhere between .52Mb/s and .7849Mb/s, which translates to long upload times. If you're uploading anything for longer than 15 minutes unattended, the website will log you out of your account.

Dave, I appreciate your help, but it is not a browser problem, I followed your instructions and tried to update to SP1, but when it starts there's a message about an ILEGAL CHARACTER and it stops, but as I said before, I tried also with a laptop that has Windows 10 and the latest IE browser and it happens the same. It is not a problem of the internet provider, the only thing that happens when there's a "blackout" for some seconds and the connection stops is that when I get connected again all the files that I was uploading start to upload from the beginning (no resume), and if I have a queue of 10 files and three of them uploading and I get logged out, when I log in again the files I were uploading and the queued ones have dissapeared, and that's quite anoying.

I will check those settings in the router but don't think that is the problem, the webpage logs me out for some internal reasons and with a Pro account there's nothing I can do to change them, period. Thanks for your help ...

@jamezua Is there any reason you have not installed Service Pack One? Its free and addresses many security and performance issues found in the initial release.

I would install and then download all updates and try again. I have never been logged out while active unless it was an ISP problem

Another thing you may want to try immediately is to change your MTU settings on your router. The default is set to 1500, step it down to 1492. Google can help you find a command line to run manual tests to find the best setting. I have 60MB down and 4MB up but I still found 1387 as my best performance setting.

@Consultant64 : I followed your advice and used the latest IE browser in a laptop with Wndows 10, and still happens the same thing, the only difference is that the pop up window is different:

and I don't know what's the criteria for logging me out, I was active in that screen and not much time has passed since I started the upload, "trust my computer" and "keep me logged in" are useless options, and what's more, I had lost the connection with the server even being online! :smileysad:

I'm starting to think than this "New" Files feature was created to keep clients and avoid them to cancel their subscription, but it was far away to function like it should and have not been sufficiently tested before being published. I don't want the LMI page to log me out,how can this be done?

Thanks Dave, I will try what you say and let you know, even if I will have to use IE10! :smileyvery-happy:

P.D. : My system doesn't support IE10 as it is Windows 7 but I don't have the SP1 package, I have found an extension for using Active X and LMI in Chrome, that was in an old post, I will check it and see if it works, I don't find reasonable to change my default browser because of this issue, all the programs should be compatible with all the browsers so people wouldn't have to discard anyone because of bugs, I know there is a browser war since the first days ( I used Netscape :smileyhappy: ), but that shouldn't affect the final users in their day-to-day use, I have never used IE and don't think I will change my behaviour after all this years, thanks anyway for your help ...

BTW, I don't think it may be a good idea ignoring Chrome users, actually they are the 67.4 % of the people using them, check this out:

I'm thinking Google Chrome. Jamezua, we all pretty much keep IE10 or higher as our default browser and login using such for LMI. Google Chrome is not a good functioning browser platform for file transfer. I am also a programmer and we will not spend any time making our applications Chrome compatable. It just not worth the time.

I would try making IE your default browser, then try again.

I have tried to add an Auto Refresh extension to Google Chrome to see if a regular activity in the page would keep me logged in, but as Files is only a frame in the webpage, when the whole page is refreshed the main page appears and my uploads are gone, still don't know why I am logged out, any help? :smileysad:
