Can anyone help me sort out local printing issues? Here they are:
I have installed LogMeIn Pro on a host PC running Windows XP and can access it remotely without problem. It also sends prints to my local Brother laser printer ok but there are two issues when printing:
1. On certain prints (Crystal Reports in particular), the text is being printed at half the specified point size (e.g. 6pt instead of 12pt).
2. Double-sided printing isn't working at all.
I've solved Issue 1 but not 2. My local printer is set to print at 600dpi (that's the default resolution setting out of the box). But when I looked at the properties that the host PC had for my local printer, the Resolution at that end was set to 1200dpi instead of 600dpi. When I changed it to 600dpi, my Crystal Reports started printing properly with the text in 12pt rather than 6pt.
Curiously, Issue 1 only affected Crystal Reports, not MS Word documents, which came out at the right point size all the time.
Issue 2 is still a problem. My local Brother laser printer is set to print Duplex by default but when I look at my printer's properties on the host PC (via LogMeIn), there is no setting available to say duplex.
When I logged into the host PC from a different local PC and sent the same prints to the local printer attached to that PC (a Brother again but a different model), Issue 1 occurred again (i.e. half size printing) but Issue 2 didn't. In other words, my prints DID come out double-sided on that local printer.
The LogMeIn Pro host is running Windows XP. Both remote PCs are running Windows 7.
What's causing these issues and what's the fix?
