Previous ticket: Code Issue from Meta - need fix/assistance 20382671
It was suggested by your customer support team that I leave feedback here for integration with Meta.
We have paid campaigns on Meta with links that go to GTW registration for our webinars. People can complete the form and get a confirmation on the screen. However, the registration information doesn’t complete – there is no confirmation email sent and they do not appear on the Registration report.
Meta stated GTW doesn’t have a proper URL redirect in place. They said it’s a 5-10 minute fix.
Our team spoke with Meta Support and was told the following:
I got an update from Meta Support on this. I had a good conversation with their specialist, and he gave me some advice to pass along to GotoWebinar.
He said that Meta can’t remove the “fbclid” parameters from the url or the link won’t work to send traffic from Facebook at all. Those parameters are what registers the click on the link within the Facebook ad (essentially making it clickable to an external webpage). The issues with the page not working correctly is because GoToWebinar doesn’t have a proper URL redirect in place, that automatically redirects any custom URL to the original page link.
But he said it’s an easy fix that the GoToWebinar development team can implement. They should be able to add the redirect protocol, which is a single line of code, to the page in 5 to 10 minutes of work.
He also said part of the issue is that their website isn’t built as “dynamic” which is the reason the redirect isn’t there. If they make their webpage more dynamic that redirect will happen automatically (I don’t really understand what that means, but I assume a developer would know).
If the GoToWebinar team has follow up questions or wants to set up a quick conversation with the Meta team, we can facilitate that.
