I'm having a graphics issue with Minecraft whenever I connect through Hamachi.
Symptoms:
The screen will go black for about a second before turning back on and turning back off for another second. It invariably always goes dark twice. Then it will be fine for a variable amount of time, anywhere from one second to 20 seconds, then it goes black twice again and just repeats over and over. While the screen is black sound and music still plays without lag. While the screen is black however, any controls I used are disregarded until the screen turns back on, at which point the game quickly lurches forward to catch up with the commands I had input (such as moving, jumping, putting things in chests, opening doors, etc.)
Environment:
The host game is on my home PC, Windows 11, and is fairly high spec. It is a modded game using fabric. The main graphics mods installed are distant horizons and sodium. Iris shaders are on there too, however they are currently disabled.
The problem is on a laptop that is also a fairly high spec gaming laptop (MSI, Windows 11). It is running with the same fabric mods as the host.
Other Info:
When joining The host game through a normal local area connection (both computers are using the same router), there is no graphics issue and everything works fine.
Currently I have Norton 360 as a firewall instead of Windows defender. I have added Hamachi and the tunneling engine to the list of allowed programs. All public and private as well as inbound and outbound connections have been set to "allow"
Despite this, when I diagnose the connection, the laptop shows that inbound traffic is blocked and that I need to check my firewall settings. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling a fresh copy of Hamachi with the latest version.
I have already ensured that Windows is at the latest version.
The connection between the two computers is a Green Dot, signifying a direct connection and not a redirected connection (or whatever the blue dot is called).
Putting the game in windowed mode does not stop this from happening, in fact the entire screen goes black, not just the game window. But as soon as I disconnect from the host game, the black flickering stops. So the problem must have something to do with the connection.
