Messenger Box
Singer
It would be really good if the message box always stayed on top.
When instructing a customer how to use our software I have to keep switching to their message box so they can see what I have said during operation of the program.
Also the message box is so small. Can it be made sizeable? When I send a customer a message they have to scroll to read.

After finally contacting LogMeIn support regarding the size of the messenger box it appears that all I had to do was increase the size of my background image. Thank you Brad for your advice.
Regarding 'staying on top' - If you go into the settings on the menu bar, under the general tab is the option to enable the box to stay on top.
I thought I would post this on the forum in case anybody else had similar problems.

I have just installed, as a trial, VOIP Stunt and as you say it does look good. It is a lot easier to copy onto a customers computer remotely because it is a smaller package size than Skype which can take nearly 30mins on some connections.
I have tried it remotely alongside our own software package installed on the customer machine and it appears to work. So far so good. It is certainly less memory hungry.
One question which I know I am going to be asked. LogMeIn has security built in which protects both the customers computer and network and also ours. If we use Voip is there security issues we should be aware of?
Wouldn't it be great if there was Voip as part of the LogMeIn?

Hi
Andy you are right as I do the same and I've minimised my landline usage to just about 1 to 2 calls a month as Skype is much cheaper and much more verstile,,,,I even give landline callers my skype phone number and they don't know the difference when we talk,,,,wireless headset thrugh out the house ,,,,it's just great,,Also nothing to do with LMIR but great knowledge to know when you think about how it can be used...

As an FYI, I use VOIP Stunt for my peronal calls. Many countries are free - even mobile phones in some countries - and I am satisfied with their service.
This is a personal endorsement, nothing to do with LogMeIn and just an FYI. Others may also know of good VOIP providers...?

Many thanks for this info. We have been using free Skype on a seperate computer but I didn't know you could call landlines for free. We have been using Skype to Skype.
I have tentatively used Skype a couple of times on the same computer as we use Logmein Rescue while demo-ing our machine and it has appeared to be okay. Your comments have given me a bit more confidence.
Thanks
Ian

The other advantage of Skype is that I can call them anywhere in the world on thier land line if need be for FREE if ur setup right,,,90% of countries are call free ,,, If i do end up paying for a call through skype to landline it's that cheap (0.02c a minute)and I charge them for it that it.s worth having...You can't beat skype if ur Pc is able to handle the bandwith which really if you look real close is not really that much anyway.

Hi
I use skype while being connected to my clients and they both run perfectly side by side,,,I even incourage my clients to get skype if they have'n got it(most do)I explain to them that it's better as I can talk through what'I'm doing rather than them asking me throuhg text and me having to stop what I'm doing To answer them in text...What a time saver ,,,,although I am in this as we all are to make a bit of extra cash,,,the time I save in typing thus wasting time explaining myself by texting it's done all at once ,,Hence I'm off to the next client in a jippy.
Enjoy ur day

I'm glad you got a solution, AND thank you for posting it for others to benefit from in the future.

I would be interested to know what activex you use? It might suit our needs perfectly especially if we can run it alongside LogMeIn Rescue.
We do call them if we have to but as our customers are worldwide this can get quite expensive. Gulp!!
Many thanks for your advice.

they do work hand in hand pretty well I must say.
I don't use skype as it is a lil bulky for what we are trying to do. I use a lil web activex that does basically voice broadcasting, this way I can train more then 1 person at once.
or just call them lol.

The laptops that run our software are stripped down to the bare minimum as we don't want the laptops used for any other reason to prevent the danger of corruption, viruses etc..
We did consider trying to use Skype on the same laptop but not sure how it well it would work with LogMeIn Rescue. Could they work side by side?
It would be nice to have VoIP included within LogMeIn Rescue? As our software operates moving equipment it would also be lovely if we could have webcam software incorporated as well.
Where possible we do use Skype on another computer but it is not always convenient or easy for the customer to set this up.
Nerds On The Ne
when I do training via rescue, I typically setup a VoIP line to the customer, so I can talk and show them what I am doing, just a thought it works way better then typing.
