Resize Individual Webcam Feeds

Are you running it under Windows? It doesn't seem to work on the Mac client. Of course, I have to accept that I'm in the minority there and the Windows version should take precedence.

You can do that Ian. If you drag the dividing line between the two feeds, you shrink one and enlarge the other. Believe me, I was thrilled to see that option now! I know you've also been waiting a long time for it.

Hrm... well, it's awesome to see some forward progress on that, but we don't want to completely remove our own feed. Ideally, our own feed would be in a small thumbnail pane so we could keep an eye on how it's framed. That's how it works in pretty much every other videoconferencing platform out there. Still, great to finally have some sort of option, so thanks to the Citrix engineers for that.

With the release of the GoToMeeting v7 series, you can now hide your own webcam feed from view.

Same problem here. When installing the MSI from this site it downgrades to 6.4.10 as soon as I start a meeting. This site with the regular MSIs does not yet show the 6.4.11 version.

Edit: Looks like they've removed the links. Guess we have to wait for the official release of the 6.4.11 version.

So, I download the MSI to install version 6.4.11 build 2273, and the install runs just fine, I click the about on the client and it shows the right version number, but if I try to initiate a meeting, it hesitates, indicates that it is downloading the required version of the software, and the version reverts to 6.4.10 build 2185. Rather irritating, but I am wondering if the new build may not be compatible with a 64-bit OS and that is why it is reverting, or if there is something else going on there.

Hmmm, no it does not. I will try downloading the msi itself and install again to see if that makes a difference as the version number is slightly different than the one that auto downloaded, then test it again. I will post again once I have had a chance to do so.

I wonder if that is just for Windows 8 and beyond or if that is just the backdrop layout that they chose for the image on the page. I rather hope it is the latter, but we will see.

I am presently running the latest GTM app for Windows on both an XP machine and a Win 7 64 bit machine and still do not see any ability to independently resize webcam windows. Unless there is a beta test version out there that I am unaware of, it is still not an available options as far as I can see.

I see there's a redesigned GTM app for Windows - has anyone tried it, and does it address this issue? We're a Mac house, so I can't take it for a spin (although I'm amenable to buying a small Windows machine to run the GTM sessions).

I've given up as well. My users have resigned themselves to the suckiness of the interface, the price is reasonable-ish, and everyone we deal with is used to using it. We'll keep the account.

The main downside is for whoever at Citrix gets stuck as our account rep ("Joshua," most recently), who always wants to schedule a half-hour pitch for ShareFile, XenApp, etc. I send a link to this thread as an example of why I'm not interested in anything else from Citrix.

Don't hold your breath. This thread has been acknowledged by Citrix and yet over the years no movement on the idea, even though many updates have been done. I've pretty much given up and am letting my annual subscription run out and moving on. Almost every other video meeting service I've used includes this feature. Not sure why Citrix won't implement it, but I'm done asking.

For what it's worth, we are considering moving our 10+ accounts to WebEx for this exact reason. We love everything else about GTM, but this one flaw is driving our doctors crazy. I can't understand why Citrix hasn't seen this a major flaw - just look at your competition.

OK, I looked at the link that you provided Glenn. Frankly, I agree wholeheartedly with the top issues that are presented there, of which this thread is #4. I even agree that the 3 above it should be above it. What I cannot wrap my mind around though is that the priorities that you listed (audio quality and join experience) are nowhere to be found even in the top 20 threads listed there. This presents a question in my mind of what is driving the priorities for development. Is it the issues presented by customers, or is it miscellaneous priorities drawn up in the offices of Citrix? Personally, once everything was set up properly for QoS here, we have had no audio issues whatsoever, and I have heard absolutely zero complaints about the join process from any of our users. I just wonder why even have this forum for submission of enhancement requests if it is not going to drive the priorities of development of the program?

I would realistically be happy even if each webcam feed/screen share was in its own window, which we could then resize and arrange how we deemed fit. Not really sure if that would be any easier to code in, but it would be a viable option in our case.

The Google Calendar extension was originally coded by a GTM customer, none of the developers who have worked on it are involved with the main software development.

Based on the number of "replies" alone relative to the others in the popular ideas list, I would think this should at least be #2 priority. Yet, still hasn't even earned the coveted "under consideration" designation...

How can something as administrative as adding Google calendar integration (convenience) trump the user experience of an actual meeting?

As I've mentioned previously our top priorities currently are improving the audio quality, making it easier and faster for attendees to join. GoToMeeting is 8+ years old at this point, we are also working to move fully over to our new platform. The benefit of this being it will make future development work easier and allow us to introduce new features and enhancements faster.

Glen, I appreciate the response, again, although that is nothing new. I am curious, are there other threads here on the forum that point to the "priorities" you mention? I am having a hard time understanding as a customer, and end user, what those could be, and don't see other ideas being suggested here that are deal breakers for some of your potential customers? Several comments above indicate companies choosing other products simply because of that one issue. What else then is more important? Maybe they're hidden features, but that's why I am asking...where are the features that seem to be given the priority, now for over a year?

Bottom line is it's Citrix's product to produce and sell as seen fit by the company. I have a choice as a customer to use it and pay for it, or not. I've chosen to this point to deal with this missing feature because of the other qualities of GoToMeeting. But honestly your competitors offer this function across all platforms and now seem to be a better for our needs knowing that no priority is being given to this issue. So while I appreciate your comment, reading the same thing now after 12 months of asking about this issue doesn't really offer me any hope.

In my opinion, the needs of your customer base need to be addressed better and I'm sure you have lost and missed many opportunities to gain additional customers which as a business owner, I just don't understand.

This feature request has been discussed with our Product Team and has been added to our list. We receive frequent enhancement requests that are evaluated and prioritized along with our regular product development work. Currently other development work has a higher priority, when this changes I will update this Topics status.

The thing that gets me is that they do have this feature in the iPad app, so it's not like it's impossible.

For some reason Citrix seems to be avoiding this feature. I submitted my request for it over a year ago and many customers on this thread alone have shared their desire for the feature. Many of us have even chosen competing products because of the lack of this feature. I do not understand why there is not an honest reply as to why this feature is not being implemented. I'm left to either assume that Citrix doesn't really care about their customers, just their $$. Or that there is some strategic reason why this feature isn't included. Given it's a feature that seems simple to integrate, and is something most of their competitors already have, I don't get it.

I'm currently in a month to month plan, and just upgraded our video hardware. I'm preparing to shift back to WebEx after giving GoToMeeting a try again these past few months. This issue just makes the use of the service in many settings (including a conference room) too distracting, AND as has been stated, when multiple feeds are open, each gets smaller and smaller. I'd much prefer to make the feed of the speaking party the largest.

I don't get it! But that's the beauty of living in a competitive marketplace, other choices!

Just came across this thread and need to add my frustration about this resizing defect in this otherwise excellent product. Our small company has about 20 GTM licenses that I will need to cancel once I settle on one of the many other products that offers resizing. This is the single biggest complaint of the outside parties we work with via webcam.

It just doesn't seem like a difficult enhancement. Is there an update from Citrix that might give me some hope?
