Monthly billed account cancellation

We are looking at joining a monthly billed account for 12 months.
What happens if we cancel before the 12 months are up?

Hey everybody,
I wanted to update this Community string, because I don't believe the annual commitment for online subscribers will be mandatory going forward. While the messaging may still be a little confusing, month-to-month plans should continue in the future.

What a pity. Although we may have ended up using it for 12 months of the year, we won't be using GoToWebinar now.

Very misleading that the sales consultant that I spoke to knew that I was in South Africa and yet still said:

If the terms of the contract state 'Annual, billed monthly', then you will be locked in for 12 months.

If the subscription terms state 'billed monthly, cancel anytime' (or similar) then disabling the automatic renewal will expire your plan after the last 30 day renewal.

We are located in Australia.

So if we are billed monthly however we cancel after 6 months, is our last billing the 7th month or will we still be billed for another 6 months even if we no longer use the account?

OK I just read another FAQ that you answered to Olivia and I understand that I best go for the monthly plan if we plan to cancel before 12 months.

"I would suggest the monthly option if you only plan to use for 1 month."

However I am still not sure what does an "Annual Commitment mean"?

Hi Kim,
I apologize for the marketing change there.
At this time, there are some locations that do require annual commitments. If you saw the subscription page stating an annual commitment, then that would apply to your plan.

I understand there is the billed annually and billed monthly.
However the reason I was confused is because the subscription page states...
*Billed Monthly Requires Annual Commitment

meanwhile reading through other FAQ I find answers such as...

"As long as your on a monthly subscription plan, you can turn off renewals any time you like. This action will simply allow your last monthly subscription to run it's normal course, and the account will remain inactive / standby until you decide to come back..."

That's why I just wanted to clarify what does an Annual Commitment mean?

Hi Kim,
Sorry for any confusion there.
There are a variety of plans out there, and most monthly plan can be cancelled through your online account. Only if the subscription page states that you will be billed for the full 12 months would you be locked into 12 recurrences.
