Camtasia says I need to transcode, but I converted to WMV after my GTT

Hi,

When importing my converted GTT recording to Camtasia, Camtasia says I need to transcode, but I already converted the recording to WMV with the GTT converter.

What should I do?

Good news!

The next generation of GoToMeeting software (v8.26.0) will no longer require you to convert the recording post-broadcast ! !

This means that your local recordings will appear in MP4 format, and be playable immediately after your GoToMeeting session concludes.
The release of this version will be rolled out to customer groups over the course of the coming weeks.

Why not try other free video converters to convert your video again? Maybe the problem lies in the converter.

Hey there,
Some users have found a workaround by using another 3rd party application, called 'Any Video Converter'-- although there are many softwares capable of completing this:

Download and Install Any Video Converter http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
Open Any Video Converter
Click & Drag the recording file to the center box of the application
Locate the recording on your hard drive and right click the file
Click Properties
Click the Details tab
Return to the Any Video Converter application
Click Basic Settings on the right navigation and change the Video Size to the Frame width & height noted in the Details tab of your recording file
Set Quality to High
Click the Video Options tab

Set Video Codec to x264
Set Video Bitrate to 4000
Set Frame Rate to 29.97
Set Encode Pass to 2

10.Click Audio Options

Set Audio Codec to aac
Set Audio Bitrate to the Audio Bit Rate noted in your recording files Details tab
Set Audio Channel to the Audio Channel noted in your recording files Details tab

   11. Click the drop down box next to Convert Now!
  12. Click Video Files
13. Select Customized WMV or MP4 Movie
  14. Click Convert Now!
15. Upload the recording once finished

I've had similar problems with WMV files created from GTM or GTT recordings. Plays fine with Windows Media Player, but Camtasia has issues. When you do the conversion, try using the MP4 format instead of WMV.
