Hi.
Is there a way to put a ditial background behind my big head to block my messy house?
Thanks.
Welcome @cduque thanks for checking out our Community.
As mentioned in this thread, you can use ChromaCam, a third party service for customized backgrounds currently. Virtual backgrounds are part of the new GoTo app experience and will be available on GoTo Webinar when it's launched sometime this year.
Hi Team,
Could you please allow me and my panelist to use custom backgrounds when they enable webcam during the webinar session.
Regards,
Alan
There is one drawback to not having a subscription. The Chromacam logo stays in the webcam view and cannot be removed, unless you have a paid subscription.
Dear @AshC
Thank you for your update. I will investigate the personalised backgrounds in the app.
It would be ideal if the background functionality could be incorporated within the system. This would eliminate the need for panelists, external speakers, etc having to download the software themselves, some may not be permitted to for instance.
Please keep me posted if this can happen in the future.
Best wishes
@Rach1 Attendees do not need to download Chromacam.
There may be additional benefits to paid subscriptions, but you do not need one for the functionality here. You should be able to use your own pictures as backgrounds.
I haven't heard of any developments to add backgrounds to the GoTo webcam functionality, but we'll update the Community should a timeline become available.
Hi @AshC - thank you for the link. I have downloaded the software. I have questions however. Is there a way of only downloading this application just once and bringing in the backgrounds into GoToWebinar for the panelists/co-organisers to choose a background within the system?
Or does everyone need to download their own copy, some colleagues/external speakers may not be able to do this?
I also note that many of the backgrounds required a paid licence, which is unfortunate.
Is there a way of bringing this facility within the GoToWebinar system in one place? Perhaps this is the case already, and I am missing something?
Many thanks for your help with this.
@Rach1 The directions are found on this support article: https://support.goto.com/webinar/help/how-do-i-change-my-webcam-background
I had tried using the then beta version of the Chromacam add-in, with mixed results. The software adds an additional virtual camera device to your computer, which then allows you to choose a simulated background within the GoTo apps. The trouble I ran into when using this was that it seemed to impair the audio and video quality experienced during the meeting while the Chromacam virtual device was in use.
Although switching back to the physical device resolved the presentation quality issues, it is unclear whether the issue was related to the Chromacam App requiring a significant portion of the internet bandwidth or latency issues. However when I raised the question, a LogMeIn comment was posted back that it probably wasn't bandwidth since I had 200 Mbps down / 15 Mbps up cable. It was suggested that my laptop (8th gen. i7) did not have enough processing power to support the Chromacam App. This is disappointing, since other vendors do not have this problem with excessive CPU/GPU requirements limiting capabilities.
Hi there - I note in May last year, there were plans in place to allow panelists to choose backgrounds for their webcams to disguise their backgrounds. Could you please tell me if this is in place yet?
Many thanks
Rach
Although this is a G2W thread, I downloaded the ChromaCam Beta in January and used it for several meetings. I recently had to uninstall it due to bandwidth issues (I believe). I opened a new topic for it this evening.
@PAI931 [Update] This is now fully supported in desktop GoToWebinar environments. Please keep in mind that there will be added CPU demand when creating a virtual background, so you may want to test the functionality while in session before you go live with an audience.

We have had several clients request an integrated virtual background for GoToWebinar so much so there have been requests to switch to Zoom or WebEx Events. I do not want to switch! Unfortunately, the third party apps do not work for most of our panelists . Does anyone have an update on the progress of adding one in GoToWebinar?
@Golder Sorry, can you say what issues you've experienced while integrating ChromaCam with your GoTo webcam feed?
GoToWebinar will use the Chromocam software. Please note that Chromocam has had several issues and updates, since we purchased it. It can be frustrating.
not now, but it has been suggested here several times.
Hi,
I have had a request from a panelist at one of my webinars about whether they are able to change their webcam background on GoToWebinar like you can do on Zoom or Teams - does GoToWebinar webcam have this functionality?
Thanks,
Libby
We plan to offer additional webcam support for virtual backgrounds very soon. Thanks for your patience.
When can we expect virtual backgrounds in GTW?
I talked to Support earlier this week and was told that GoToWebinar has partnered with Chromacam.me . However, you have to purchase from Chromacam.me. I contacted them, but it took 4 days for them to return my request for information. They do not offer a phone number on their site. GoToWebinar also offered SnapCamera.snapchat.com, but I thought that was too playful and not for professional use.
There are other virtual meeting software that will allow you to do this, but GoTo does not.
Some webcams come with software that allows you to add a background. There might be third-party software that will let you add a background to your webcam that could be seen by GoTo.
