VoIP

After posting in the 'Wishlist' section of the forum regarding message boxes I had a kind response from Matt. He suggested VoIP. This lead me to posting in this section of the forum to see what other users do.

Our program is installed on a laptop and used purely to run our supplied equipment. It has all unnecessary windows software removed. LogMeIn Rescue calling card is added for us to be able to maintain, upgrade etc..

Although the message box is useful it would be good to talk to the customer on the same laptop but without affecting the running of our software which in turn could affect the running of the equipment.

Has anybody had any experience of using VoIP alongside LogMeIn Rescue? What do you use?

We have used Skype on a seperate computer which has helped immensely, as well as allowing us to see our equipment while it is running if the customer sets up a webcam. It is not always possible for our customers to get Skype set up on a seperate computer close to the equipment at their end. Our customers are worldwide so the phone is an expensive option.

Any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received.

I have been using LogMeIn Pro for over 1-1/2 years to help friends and family. I have ust recently started using LogMeIn Rescue. I have been using Skype for VoIP and it works GREAT! My headset is hooked right to my computer and I have the times save in the software logs. It only cost $3/month for unlimited Skype to Phone calls and $30/year for a dedicated phone number for people to call me.

I have been very please. If anyone has any questions about Skype, I would be happy to answer them.

I have been using Vonage VOIP along side of LMIR for about 2 years, once in a while I experience a customer that cannot hear me that good due to me uploading or downloading large amounts of data and using the phone at the same time. I did just upgrade my Cable Modem program to the hugher speed and haev not seen any issues.

No this isn't my problem I am afraid. I am just after a VoIP that will work with LogMeIn Rescue.

By the sounds of it there is likely to be conflicts with VoIP.

Hi

Since installing logmein a few days ago, I find that my Philips Voip phone has lost all contacts (no contacts list) and on startup I get a message to plug in the USB cable for the VOIP phone. But it's already plugged in.

Also, Nero has started acting up (may or may not be related) and in Nero's system info, I found that logmein has now been set to the default video peripheral (it says "logmein mirror driver"). It should be Logitech.

Is any of that related to your problem? Can anyone help because I have one son in Germany and one in New Zealand and I need the VOIP phone to work properly.
