GoToTraining PowerPoint with embedded videos with sound

Good day All

We have just recently started using GoToTraining for our online virtual training sessions and all of our training is done using PPT with embedded videos that have sound. I have been told that apparently GTT does not allow for sharing of videos unless using YouTube or Vimeo. The problem is, jumping between the presentation and then trying to share a link through Vimeo causes a disruption and you can be gauranteed, there will be a techinal issue. The other issue is, most of our training videos need to be stored in a secure environment, so uploading it to a public domain like Youtube or Vimeo is not an option. So, is there any sort of workaround for this?

I have read about using Stereo Mix but I am using Windows 10 and have tried everything to access the Stereo Mix option (dowloading updated codecs, unhiding disabled devices, and and and) but I do not have Stereo Mix on my laptop. I have also read about having two seperate computers to get this right and no, this is definitely not an option for us as we have 6 different presenters, so we would need to purchase 6 extra computers just to share video.

Does anyone please have any recommendations on how to get this right? Otherwise we will need to start looking at an alternative platform to use.

I run the videos through VLC from the desktop of my computer. and leave our microphone open and mute the clients. how ever the latency on Goto is not great and any way we run the videos this method or Vimeo, YouTube or embedding in PowerPoint they are very jerky (technical term 🙂 ) Hope this helps.

Ditto to what everyone said here. Not being able to play video's easily is a major barrier w/ GTT.

Same with us, we have already moved all of our training to online and even though we have already purchased licenses for GTT, we are having to use a different platform purely because of not being able to share embbeded videos. Using the likes of YouTube or Vimeo is not an option for us either, so we can;t go that route.

Being one of the largest mutli-national companies, it is a shame that we will most likely have to explore an alternative option to GTT.

This is a major requirement for us also. We are now moving our entire training operation to online and we need videos and sound. We will have to explore another platform if GTT doesn't offer it. A shame, as we already subscribe to GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar and really like those products.

I echo the need to be able to quickly share videos via gototraining (in a similar way you do with gotowebinar).

If you are a global company such as the one I work for, all of China is extremely limited because there is no Youtube and Vimeo. So there is no way for a large part of our network!

You are correct, GoToWebinar does not currently offer Testing functionality, though it does have live Polls and post-broadcast survey ability, as well as Attendee Certification options.

GoToWebinar currently require that you upload videos to the pre-scheduled event before the broadcast begins. We do not yet have the ability to play audio from the computer directly into the conference call. The type of hardware required depends on your presenting operating system, and the phone system you use. It can be done with mobile devices as well, sometimes utilizing a bluetooth app, which you can find instructions for online.

No my laptop doesn't, it just has an audio jack port and then the usual USB, HDMI and Typ-C ports. Could you possibly please give me a link to the converter you mentioned?

The reson we chose GoToTraining was for the polls and tests as well as the monitoring of the audience engagement. As far as I am aware, GoToWebinar does not offers these feature, is that right? Also, if we were to use GoToWebinar, would that be able to play videos that are embedded in a PowerPoint slide, or would we have to jump from the slides to the video?

Hi Andre,

Does your laptop have different ports for audio in / out?

If not, you could also use a converter that plugs from your computer speaker jack into the telephone device.

If this is a primary requirement of your broadcasts, then you may also consider GoToWebinar, which securely houses your videos as part of the webinar schedule.
