GoToWebinar in locked-down environments

We are in a locked down corporate environment and users cannot join webinars because we do not allow software downloads or installs from end users.

As described in GoToWebinar/GoToMeeting documentation we preinstall now the client via the MSI and enable both GoToWebinar and GoToMeeting in it. But nevertheless users are unable to join the meeting. Using the initation link leads to the download of the "GoToWebinar Opener.exe" which is forbidden. Using the clients "join" feature just ends "non existing meeting id" information.

What is the correct way of joining a webinar in a locked down corporate environment?

Agreed. It would be nice to have a choice in the email that contains the Join Link. Join using the app or through a web browser.

I have a lot of government employees on my webinars who have locked down computers. I give them the Instant Join information up front.

The main problem with the Instant Join is described in the link you provided "If you join from a computer running an operating system that is supported by the desktop app, then the desktop app will automatically begin downloading ...". In our case we use supported Windows OS but the download is forbidden by a firewall rule. As result the download fails and the session will not be established and seems to hang regardless of the fact that the desktop app is already installed via the MSI.

As workaround the user could add "?clientType=html5" to the invitation link to force the Instant Join. Doing this Join seems to work in general but is not really a comfortable way for the end user which only want to click on the link in their invitation mail. To be true this could only be a workaround not the solution
