FireFox opening "Get Started" Tab

Something happened the last few days where FireFox is now launching an additional tab and setting focus to: "https://www.lastpass.com/get-started" every time I launch Firefox. I am logged in. Is there a way to disable this?

I had this problem in Firefox and it was driving me nuts (never had the problem in Chrome). I uninstalled the LastPass binaries and that fixed it.

The only reason I installed the binaries was because of the promise that you could share login state between browsers. Since that never worked for me anyway, I'm not really losing anything by uninstalling it.

Just to note: it's not only Firefox. I have the same issue using Chrome.

Call me a cynic but I'm sticking with 4.15.2.17 for at least a few days since it's working for me as intended. I'll keep an eye on these message threads to check for any additional info but I learned my lesson.

Sorry, I didn't realize my previous post altered the URL in the LastPass reply by inserting an ellipsis in the middle, even so I just tested it and it works. But, just in case anyone has trouble, just go to the Firefox Add-ons page and search for LastPass, it should bring up this latest version and you can add it from there.

I think Firefox has fixed this. With additional prodding including another link to this forum, I finally got a useful reply from my LastPass ticket (see below). It acknowledges the problem and has a solution that so far works for me. I installed the latest version, 4.16.1.1, using the website in the response below. I installed it over the last known good version I was using, 4.15.2.17, without disabling it, then re-enabled automatic updates in Firefox for the LastPass add-on. I shut down, waited 10 sec, and restarted my computer, then restarted Firefox several times without any problems.

I stopped using my Premium LastPass. I downloaded the Free LastPass. I removed the Premium LastPass from Firefox(until LastPass fixes it), added the Free LastPass Addon. Voila, no more "Get Started" Tab. Just until LastPass gets their fingers out of their ... Bye.

Go a page or two back and you will see the temporary fix.

Here is the temporary work around - Just revert to an older version at the URL below and select the 4.15.2.17 version. That quickly corrects the problem.

After reverting, remember to go to Firefox add-ons, click on Lastpass/More, scroll down the page and select DO NOT UPDATE.

Same problem I'm having. Until they issue a proper fix, here's the work around I am using:

1. Open FireFox and login to your vault (actually you can't help BUT log into your vault).
2. LEAVE THAT TAB OPEN, then start a NEW tab and go to the site you need to log into.

You basically just have to keep a Firefox sessions going w/ the vault open or as you noted, LastPass will blow away the site you are trying to log into.

I've been pretty vocal here about my issues the last few days, so I thought I'd share that I got mine working properly. To recap, I have 4.16.1.1 and still had issues even after uninstalling/reinstalling it repeatedly, and after many in this thread said that update had solved their problems. One huge caveat, however: for me it took a complete reinstall of Windows 10 and a fresh download of Firefox to solve the problem.

My Win10/FF reinstalls were from issues independent of my Lastpass issue; my Win10 had been growing sluggish and buggy lately, and I've carried the same FF profile forward for 10 years so it's pretty bloated. I took the opportunity yesterday to reinstall both, and hoped that as a bonus it would solve my Lastpass issue as well. So I reinstalled them both, then grabbed Lastpass 4.16.1.1 from the FF add-ons site. Lastpass seems to be working fine, although I'm having to re-authenticate a lot. I'm not ready to declare that an issue because as I re-set all my settings and customizations, I'm logging in and out a lot so that may be the cause.

I realize that nobody's going to want to pursue a full Win10/FF reinstall as I did, but I wanted to share my results. I will also add that at some point I re-installed the universal Windows Lastpass installer to regain full functionality of the app (the copy username/password feature right out of the icon drop-down menu is huge for me). So perhaps that universal installer is another avenue from which to troubleshoot for those still having issues.

Okay, this is beyond ridiculous now. LastPass INSISTS on opening the vault every time I log in, even though I have it set up so the vault will not open. Even worse, it does it in the active window and so I lose whatever I'm doing in that window. Just now, I was trying to buy tickets to a show I wanted to see, and by the time I got back to the window I was working in the seats I wanted were gone. PLEASE FIX THIS, LASTPASS. This is getting beyond a joke at this stage. First it was the "Getting Started" page being displayed every time, and now regardless of the setting in preferences, it launches into the Vault every single time.

OK, in the grand scheme of things it's a minor annoyance, but it's this lack of attention to detail and regression testing that's concerning. If the developers pay so little attention to the small stuff like this, I get worried that the same lackadaisical approach to testing might carry over to the core functionality which is much more worrying.

I assure you NaveedLP, 4.16.1.1 is still broken. I have reinstalled Lastpass 5 times, each time with 4.16.1.1 - including just a few minutes ago and each time I had to revert back to 4.15.2.17 in order to suppress the bug.

It is no big deal for me to test this issue. To revert to the older version I just go to the following URL and select the 4.15.2.17 version. That quickly corrects the problem.

Please everyone - stop trying to tell us that the problem is fixed. It has not been fixed, at least not for everyone. And for the record, I am running Firefox 61.0.1 in 64 bit mode on Windows 7 Ultimate, Svc Pak 1 64 bit.

BTW, I have none of these problems on Chrome.

Make sure you are using the most updated version which is 4.16.1 .1 and can be installed from here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... d-manager/

My moderation queue went from dozens upon dozens of new accounts per day reporting the same problem Thursday through Friday, and then quickly tapered off starting Friday evening after people started receiving the update. I'd say that 4.16.1.1. fixed the getting started tab issue for the overwhelming majority of people.

This is working fine for me which was created using the link I posted for version 4.16.1.1.

However, you need to do a clean uninstall first, then reinstall. Maybe reboot computer but I don't know about.

LastPass told me to uninstall the firefox extension and reinstall at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... d-manager/ That is 14.16.1.1

This fixes the problem.

An Important Note For Everyone

After reverting to the earlier version of Lastpass, please remember to TURN OFF Automatic Updates so that Lastpass doesn't just revert again to the broken version.

You can do this by going to Tools in the Firefox menu, select Add-Ons and then click on "More" in the Lastpass Line. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see where to configure Lastpass to stop updating.

Please check what version of Lastpass you are running and if it has already reverted to the broken version (which I suspect that it has for those of you reporting continuing problems even though you installed the earlier version), go back to the message giving you the URL and install the older version again.

Remember to double check that you have turned Auto-Update OFF.

Yes, this is a particularly poor choice to run the Lastpass forum on. I complete missed the original suggestion to revert to an earlier version of Lastpass to solve the problem. Someone reported that it was on page #2. I found it on page 4.

And there is no search tool to go through the lengthy messages to find specific text or a specific author.

Could be that Lastpass is just a small outfit and can't afford the fancy tools that MS and other big companies use.

Lets give them a chance to respond properly Monday or Tuesday when they are back at work.

Trying to find my original post about this (and maybe a reply) was an exercise in futility.
It took me nearly 10 minutes to wander around trying links before I found this item.

I take it that an update has been issues and that fixed the problem for some people.
My issue of this problem has vanished, but I don't know why or how.

The communication between posters and LastPass is appalling.

No, this has not been fixed - at least not for everyone - and I wish people would stop saying that it has been. Myself and others have said repeatedly that we've tried every fix and updated to the latest version numerous times, to no avail. I've done literally everything I've read about on this thread and the behavior I've described in earlier posts persists.

Agree see my latest post. Now once logged in the site I'm trying to log into goes away left w/ LastPass open vault. Are you guys testing this stuff?

Additionally, I just discovered another mildly disturbing behavior. I'm forced to log in to Lastpass via the web site, which then activates my Firefox add-on, which seems to work fine at that point. It also hijacks my current tab and turns it into my vault. When I log out of Lastpass via the add-on, my vault remains open and I remain able to access everything in it. As best I can tell, it does not allow me to save any edits I make. But it's still very much there and accessible.
