Cant recover MasterPW - " You tried sending too many SMS messages. Please try again..."

Yesterday I changed my MasterPW - and wrote it down. After changing the MPW all my PW were encrypted - I saw this BAR with the mention "it can take upto 5min". I was logged out then.

After that tried like 10-20 to login with the new MPW and everytime LastPass told me that my MPW was wrong. So I tried to recover my MPW once more - But now it wouldn't work anymore. Each time I put in my mobile no. for the MasterPW recovery it says

"You tried sending too many SMS messages. Please try again in a little while."

So now I cannot log into my acc and cannot access any of my important pages.

What should I do now?

I thought I knew my Master password but apparently not. I have tried resetting the password and I get the "too many SMS messages" error. I have waited overnight and I still cannot get in. This all started yesterday when I my Facebook messages were hacked. I tried changing my FB password within the LastPass app. I thought I did that successfully but I was not able to log back in to LastPass. Help. Do I need to delete my account completely?

Hi @saemml,

I've looked at your account again and you have no recovery one-time passwords generated, so account recovery is not going to work. Since you have reverted your account back to the previous master password the only way to access the account is to enter that master password that you created 3 months ago. Your vault data is encrypted using your master password. Remember, the master password is 12 or more characters long and has at least one upper and lower case letter, number and symbol. It is also case sensitive so you may want to type it out in a text editor to check exactly how it is being entered.

LastPass has no knowledge of your master password and LastPass Support cannot reset it.

As I have shown above I'm stuck in a dead end, and dependant on the LastPass Support!

It would be great if ANY Lastpass Administator or Lastpass Support-Team member could advise me on this situation!

Obvoiusly I'm not the only 1 with problems here, but you could at least give SOME tipps or notice! I really need to know how I may regain access to my PW Vault!

So now I used this Page to revert my MasterPass.

But I couldn't remember my Masterpassword before, that's why I changed it in the first place. For now I think I should be able to LogIn with the prior MPW - which remains unknown to me.

That's why I started to do this SMS - verification thing again. Still I get stuck in the loop mentioned above.

So I somehow have to contact the Lastpass support, in order to proceed.

Would be great if someone could assists me on this!

After waiting for over 24h without trying to verificate via mobile fon, it finally worked and sent me a Code.

Still it won't find any "OTP" or "Valid Username" and urges me to contact the Laptpass Support.

The final screen stays stuck (loading sign)and doesn't forward me to the MasterPass changing Vault.

Anyone got a Idea on how to proceed here?

I am still getting the msg

"You tried sending too many SMS messages. Please try again in a little while."

It's been over 24h now that I'm trying to get my Master PW recovery started via the SMS verification, but all the time I'm getting the same message.

Should I stop trying the recovery for the next 24h? Any suggestion on how to proceed?

I reviewed your account and it looks like you were able to sign in successfully today, do you still need help with recovery?

I am having the same issue. Waited about 24 hours and still getting the same message "Too many attempts". I would like to know what to do, please. Thanks!
