Is there no exception to Canadian Businesses who only text Canadian Numbers that too just for order updates and coordinating service related texts and nothing to do with mass marketing? It seems like even though there is no requirements, Canadian businesses are forced to register and wait 30+ days without text capability just because GrassHopper does not have a process in place to make an exception like some of the other virtual line companies (DialPad Offers exception for these cases). Has anyone successfully got registered as a Canadian Business not texting to US Numbers?
Hi GlennD, thank you for taking the time to review our support tickets. The information submitted is align with requirements including ability for customer to opt in and opt out. Submission was done with this in mind along with screenshots. Now we are just waiting for this to get approved / denied or some outcome with no visibility to estimated completion or review date. Not sure if this approval is with GH team or TCR team. Cheers.
@Imsidq I checked with the team just now and they let me know that recently opened accounts do not have SMS enabled until they complete the required registration. From reviewing your support tickets it looks like our support team provided you with an example of what your Contact Us page should include to successfully pass registration. Once you make the suggested changes you should be able to resubmit your registration and get approved.
Tried contacting support and had multiple tickets, Outbound SMS is disabled until TCR registration is approved. Never had sms capability since little over 3 weeks now when we signed up for GH. You get an error when sending text on app. Receiving works, sending blocked. Regardless of Cutoff being into effect or not. Unable to get in touch with anyone as support team just says "we have to wait up to 30 business days for approval from tcr".
"error
Outgoing texts are not allowed by carriers on an unregistered local number. Please submit your number for registeration"
All outbound SMS's are disabled and you get an error message saying to register to enable texting once approved. Unable to attach screenshot here but exact message we get is
"Error
Outgoing texts are not allowed by carriers on an unregistered local number. Please submit your local number for registration"
thought not applicable for our use case, SMS is disabled and nothing to do with cutoff date. Can receive text but outbound has been blocked since we got GH over 3 weeks ago and TCR registration still in progress status.
Hi @Imsidq, the registration cutoff hasn't come into effect yet and when it does it will be the Carriers and not Grasshopper enforcing it. If there is an issue with your account you should call our toll free support for assistance https://support.grasshopper.com/help/contact-customer-support
Experiencing SMS block from GrassHopper even though network in Canada are based on Canadian Carriers and nothing to do with Verizon/At&t/T-Mobile etc. As per discussion with TCR Support, they mentioned service provider (grasshopper) should unblock as this is not applicable.
Hi , @lmsidq
Welcome to the Community.
According to the documentation, registration is required to send text messages of any kind to U.S. customers. Carriers will block all outbound messages from unregistered phone numbers by December 1, 2024.
If you are only texting to Canadian customers, you may not experience a block, however, it's being enforced by the Carriers and it's ultimately up to them.
