Automatically Mute Attendees Upon Joining

Question

I recall GoTo Meeting previously having an option to set attendees to automatically be muted when they joined. I can no longer find the setting and now, if users have their microphone unmuted in the "Hallway" preview, they join the meeting unmuted. Was the setting relocated or removed completely?

Thanks for your response and suggestion, but it would be cumbersome. The meetings we host are open for anyone invited to talk as need be. The issue we have is as people join they unmute themselves in the hallway, not realizing it caries over to the meeting. I could train our own staff about that, but we have several external people also participating. Maybe the confusion comes from them not realizing they can test their audio in the Hallway without unmuting their microphone.

Hi @psctechnology, welcome to the community.

Attendees are muted by default when they first join a meeting, however, they can un-mute themselves in the hallway and test their camera before fully joining the session, and that will be remembered the next time they join a meeting.

As the organizer you have a couple of options to Manage your Attendees:

1. Mute All from the People list

2. Settings > Session, disable Allow Mic. Attendees will not be able to un-mute themselves until you allow them specifically or all attendees to un-mute
