File Transfer Enhancements (derived and revised from GoToMyPC

I realize it is routed via your servers, that's why I normally just ftp larger files or wetransfer them for anything larger than than 10mb.

I've just posted an update outlining the current plan and priorities for 2017, I will update it with additional information as things progress. Right now we need to complete moving everything off of Citrix's systems, this includes things like certificates in the software itself, so it has been a big undertaking. Finishing 2-factor authentication and releasing a Dark UI are also top priorities for 2017. I'm not sure where File Transfer improvements are on the new road map yet, but I brought it up along with the other most popular Ideas in my first conversations with the team.

I posted somewhere that the ability to move files from one client to the other while the sessions are open would be very helpful. So when issues of speed and personal efficiency are involved it would avoid a "double hop" with twice the time and twice the effort.

Has there been any movement on being able to choose a default download/upload location in the software?

Hi Dave, file transfers are also being routed via our servers with the rest of the connection and not peer to peer, so that is why the speed is not what you might be expecting.

I shall definitely be having a chat with them Monday then!

Oh, just seen your Post in "split sessions in Windows" ..... now we can also do this with no limits ;-)

I only can speak from "germany". I have seen they have a other page for english. In germany the have an "unattended flat". If they have the same licencing outside germany you would smile if you see the prices ;-)

Thanks for the info, looks interesting I'll have to contact them about licencing as we have a lot of unattended installs so need to see what the cost for more is.
yeah filezilla back to one of our ftp server is also my fall back, so no issue with that if its been integrated into there product, if anything that would be better again!

Hi Dave. Our new solution have not all feature I which but its in all points better. Filetransfer use filezilla as client so the speed is really good.
We use PCVisit. Only German Servers, so also german Privacy policy

I think some people won't read this here, but there were no other way for us.

I've been watching this thread for a while and we too have been waiting for a better transfer client, I'd also add that speed is an issue we never see more that 700kb/s transfer speeds, despite being on 1gbps fiber our end and at least 40mbps client end.
It's not a show stopper for us but it is highly frustrating added to a few other issues we are looking what else is out there,
Michael can I ask who you have moved too as we are now looking for an alternative.

For us this now have an end. Today I have terminated our 30 GTA seats.
Since months (or years ??? ) there were no features added which users want.
Now, after more than 5 years GTA using I have decided to end this. Now we are using a german product with really good german support, direct contact to the developers ..... and it costs only 40 % of GTA.

At the moment we are evaluating an alternative Software which seems to be much better then GTA and with our 30 seats we save 3000 € per year. I think GTA is a "dying" product.

Why isn't this supported? Why is there no movement on this issue? Are there plans for this to be implemented anytime in the future? A reason would be nice instead of the short answer you gave me. At least someone answered my post, while the others are being ignored....

They can consolidate threads in this forum, but can't spend a few hours adding a feature that most users would utilize on an daily if not hourly basis. They really need to fix this issue. At least make the default download location accessible in a XML file, registry location, etc. Then I could just edit it myself.

Whoever designed go to assist file transfer must eat soup with a fork.

I agree plus the pain of moving. It's almost like it is a dead product as far as development goes.

Feature requests are nice but it looks like they will get ignored.
Actually the only reason to stay is the price. We have 30 used seats and Teamviewer is there no option.

Don't hold your breath or just use teamviewer... I have asked for YEARS for a better file transfer. Even in other Citrix products like GoToMyPC they use a much better side by side file transfer.

You will notice after using GoToAssist for years that feature requests that are overwhelming by the community go unanswered.

Many Many Many Many people on this forum want a better file transfer.

A few points regarding the File Transfer UI:

1) The current File Transfer UI is far from being handy;

2) File Transfer by default is set to target "My Documents" on both sides which is not handy for me.

On the phone the GoToAsssist Support Specialist mentioned that the defaults could be changed. Unfortunately I was not able to discover menus with the relevant settings;

3) Could the File Transfer remember the last used path for both Computers;

4) The current File Transfer UI got a tiny mickey-mouse hole-size windows with a tiny font. They require an endless number of clicks to navigate to the required files and directories. It is very difficult to operate on a laptop screen.

5) Could GoToAssist replace the existing dysfunctional low productivity File Transfer UI with a functional NC style UI?

6) Unfortunately the GoToAssist Support Specialists indicated that GoToAssist is not interested in loggin and resolving the above functionality ;

I would love to be able to change the default file transfer destination location. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have looked in the registry and some system files but I don't see it anywhere that is accessible to me.

Any movement on roadmap?
