Not one of the few. You are typical. OSX is better to work from while fixing MS junkware.
In LOGMEIN CENTRAL, you can set up a DEPLOYMENT and add an installation package. Then you can point your DNS records (HTTP Redirect) to that logmein custom address.
This would give you a custom install address that you can point an end user to that will allow them to run through the installation without having to enter any settings, credentials, etc...
To get by this problem with logmein rescue, we use parrallels on our mac's (since we are one of the few IT support companies that rely on Mac's internally).
I know this is an old post but we are also in need of LogMeIn Rescue for Mac.
The fact is they have the standard LogMeIn already running on Mac and it works great. We can connect to computers that are registered. So they have Mac based web browser technology in place, all they need is to migrate the numbering thing for rescue.
What a shame that they don't listen to the community. It leaves the door for competition.
The truth is, these guys hired a whole bunch of Windows Fan Boys to write their apps. The apps are completely dependent on ActiveX to run. They have NO IDEA how to get that going on a UNIX platform to control another machine. Getting control OF a unix machine they HAVE figured out. See, the MAC is actually a UNIX machine in itself, with a very pretty front end to it.
So, let's get down to it... How is it that we can help these guys at LogMeIn to get started in the right direction on a Mac Tech Console? Macs don't run ActiveX, nor any other tasteless, insecure protocols such as that... Interestingly enough, Microsoft released an RDC client for Mac, showing the world that, yes, it IS possible to control a PC from a Mac...
I think, what they should do, is to run up a simple tech console for Safari AND Firefox for Mac that, instead of using some ActiveX stuff to control the end user's PC, that instead, they rig up Microsoft RDC to do the controls, this way, we get control of the PC from a Mac with the user's permission.
The truth is, any network admin worth his salt will NEVER use a Windows machine to do his job. Knowing how vulnerable and buggy they are, REAL programmers and techs tend to gravitate toward Mac and Linux...
So, here's the solution. Since we don't want to have the end user pass the login information for the machine to the tech, they add one of their famous ActiveX controls to their PC end user app to temporarily enable Remote Desktop Connection, and set up an account with Admin Access on that PC that is then, invisibly, passed to the Mac Tech's RDC client, and then the Mac tech connects to the PC and works on it from there... Then, when either the user ends the session, or the Tech does, the account info at both ends is wiped...
Us Mac people can put up with a few less features and more pre-install requirements, like installing RDC and RDC menu ourselves, and all that neat stuff, in order to prevent us from having to start up Virtual Box and a PC browser to use their service to assist our clients...
Now, that solution MAY suck. For all I know, it may not even work. For that matter, I may not have a solution that can be done, at the moment, at all.. At least I tried.
Instead of whining about no Mac Tech Console solution, let's all us Mac Geeks put our thinking caps on and come up with a way these PC boys at LogMeIn can pull OFF a Mac Tech Console.
That's MY take on this situation...

@designjoe: could you send the solution you've chosen to software.architect@gmail.com, thanks!
We've been in a similar situation, wanting to provide remote support to customers, without too much of a hassle for the user.
Due to Rescue not supporting Linux/Mac for the Tech Console, we are trying out a combination of Central / Pro and Free.
But sometimes we just don't have physical access to the customer's desktop, and asking the customer to enter our account details is just too complex.
Well, it's official:
I have enjoyed using the LogMeIn Rescue service for many years. However, the continued lack of a Mac Technician Console is infuriating and unacceptable. Therefore, I respectfully request the cancellation of my LogMeIn Rescue account subscription, effective immediately.Thank you for your prompt assistance in this matter!
Best of luck to the rest of my fellow Mac Technicians...
Tech console on OS X would be a godsend. Adding in my vote, currently using VMWare fusion for LMI Rescue functionality.
I've been begging for Tech Console on Mac since 2007.
So it seems, "we can't make any promises about future product releases" really means... "Forget it."
I love the LMI Rescue service, but... Please make Tech Console on Mac a priority.
Thanks.
Tech Console for Mac plz..
Calling Card for Mac plz...
With so many requests for so long you would think action would be taken..
Please help me make it easier for my clients with macs to connect to me within 2 clicks like in Windows. It is a tedious process to get clients who do not know anything about computers to connect to me. Why do they always have to go to logmein123.com, why does the link on my website not work like it does for Windows?
Sorry, had to vent,..pretty much my only gripes with LogMeIn Rescue for Mac, other than that I love it!
Yet another vote for LMI Rescue Tech console for Mac.
As an intermediate step, what about Calling Card for Mac clients, so at least the users can have a similar way to get support?
Tony
Hi,
Don't understand why there is a iphone app when you can't even use the tech console on a Mac.
I think LogmeIn should have provided us Mac users with this option before creating an Iphone app??? :smileymad:
Hi jackson. Thank you for your valuable feedback. We can tell that there is demand for this feature (I'm sure you've read all the same posts on this Community that I have). But I hope you understand that we can't make any promises about future product releases.
Thanks again.
It's a shame that no one from LogMeIn actually answered the original question:
Will there ever be a tech console that runs on Macs?!?!?!?!?!
I'm sooo tired of having to switch to Windows to run Console. We're migrating to Macs, and we might have to drop our seats if this doesn't happen.
Thanks!
Jackson
Add another vote. Its probably the biggest hinderance from me signing up. IT Reach works pretty well in Mac/Safari/FF, but Rescue requires me to run Parallels, and I'd rather not...
Other things I'd really like to see:
Unattended support for Mac
Calling Card for Mac
Support for automatic login with credentials on the Mac
For the love of god, please! LMI is such a great crossplatform product. The only thing stopping my entire company from paying for LMI Rescue is the windows requirement as all my techs use OSX or Linux.
Until then it's logmein free or VNC.
Another vote for Mac console! Currently I am running VMWare Fusion and have Windows XP image (cleaned up, minimum services etc) just to have Firefox Console for windows running.
LogMeIn Rescue is the ONLY reason I still need VMWare Fusion running throughout the day. It would have me 5-10% processor and 512+50mb RAM if LogMeIn Rescue has a Mac native client!
Mac+Firefox would be the best target. Hope it happens.
