Unable to add a computer "An Internal Error has Occurred. Please Try again.

1) Windows
2) Windows 7 64bit,
3) Internet explorer 9
4) "An Internal Error has occurred. Please try again."
5) Installing gosetup.exe onto a computer.

We are in a corporate environment, using UAC (user access control), and group policies. No users have local admin. There is no UAC prompt, only "An Internal Error has occurred. Please try again." after choosing a computer access password. I am able to bypass this error by running g2comm.exe as administrator for the initial setup. As we are installing this on several computers via sccm 2012 deployments, we would like to remove the need for an administrator to run g2comm.exe.

Thank you, I added a reboot after the sccm installation. Gotomypc is now running as a service and the clients can register computers without the need for local admin.

Hi Stacey,

Would you check and make sure that the GoToMyPC program is running as a service after the installation? You can right click on the MYPC icon in the system tray and select about. Under "Service:" we want to make sure it says running as a service. Our gosetup.exe installer should prompt you for elevated permissions during installation and then GoToMyPC will run as a service after installation is complete. If GoToMyPC is not running as a service then it will not be able to write to the registry folder you have listed and will report that an internal error has occurred when attempting to register the computer to your account. There are a few workarounds to this, but to ensure GoToMyPC is stable we'll want to make sure it's running as a service after completing installation.

If GoToMyPC isn't running as a service after running gosetup.exe I would recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the software. If possible, you may either log into an account that has administrator permissions or right click on the gosetup.exe installer and select "Run as Administrator".

I may have figured it out, g2tray.exe is writing to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Citirix\GotoMyPC
