Wireless keyboard for iPad doesn't work.

When I connect to my PC via the iPad app and a wireless keyboard, the keyboard doesn't work once I'm connected to my PC. I was able to get it to work if I pulled-up the iPad keyboard but then half of the screen is blocked for no reason.

I'm using iOS 8 with a Bluetooth Logitech keyboard and connecting to a Windows 7 Enterprise machine.

I've been using a combination of an iPad, bt keyboard and GoToMyPC->PC for well over three years and have been continually frustrated by the fact that GoToMyPC cannot seem to get it right.

I've had 4 different bt keyboards - 3 of which have been logitech multi-device keyboards which work flawlessly when connected directly to every device (PC, iPad, iPhone, Smart TV, Apple TV, etc). Connected directly, all the keys work, including but not limited to: special keys (ctrl, alt, start, del), F keys, arrow keys, key combinations (ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+x), text editor combinations, logitech specific combinations (fn+> = END, fn+< = HOME, fn+shift+> = Highlight text from position to end, etc).

All of this tells me that the keyboards are not the problem.

However, from day one, iOS GoToMyPC (I've not used the Android version, and thought I should specify) never sends the various special keys/combinations to my PC correctly. I am continually forced to use the virtual special keys, virtual F keys, sometimes virtual arrow keys, etc, which requires that all key combinations require the virtual keys also --- which is SUPER annoying.

I do a lot of text-based work on my PC (programming), which also means I use special keys, key combinations CONSTANTLY. This lack of functionality significantly adds unnecessary frustration and time to anything I work on remotely.

I've updated the app every single time an update is available, and until this last update arrows NEVER worked. At least now they work most of the time - although with very strange behavior frequently.

WTF?! How could this be something you guys can't seem to fix or get right? I know I'm not the only person using an iPad to connect to a PC....

Please help.... I'm ready to jump ship on GoToMyPC and start using one of your competitors after years of being subscribed.

I would just like to share my experience in case any GotoMyPC user is considering buying a Bluetooth keyobard for their ipad. I am on iOS 9.3.1

I have an ipad mini and just purchased a Logitech Ultrathin keyboard. Although the keyboard does work in GotomyPC, I can confirm that special keys such as alt and ctrl do not work, there is no delete key anyway and I must continue to use the virtual function keys of gotomypc (ok not drastic). I can also confirm that the problem probably doesn't come from Logitech themselves or the keyboard because when testing with TeamViewer those keys do work on my remote computers, I think the problem is a combination between iOS and gotomypc, it would not be something for Logitech to resolve. I would say something not compatible with iOS AND GotomyPC

What I don't know is whether those keys ever worked before in older iOS versions.

VERY INTERESTING PART
I also own a Samsung Galaxy S2 Tab and the corresponding Samsung keyboard and all the keys work like a charm plus it has many more keys such as delete and all the function keys, so I never need to use the virtual function keypad.

I'm using newest Gotomypc App v. 3.9.1612 on iPad Air 2 , but still got Bluetooth keyboard problems. Alt, control, keys not working on Bluetooth keyboard. Even on original Bluetooth pc keyboard no chance to use function keys. Autodesk apps like Revit and 3DS Max really need full keyboard support. Screen keys on iPad (alt, control...) working but why no full Bluetooth keyboard?
The same problem (on Citrix X1 mouse) middle bottom - scroll wheel button click not working. So no pan, orbit, rotate functionality anable.

Have you been able to fix the arrows issue with the Zagg keyboard? I have the same problem.

Yes. I have the same problem too. The virtual keyboard takes up half the the screen real estate even though i have a wireless keyboard.

I'm using IPad Air IOS 8 with Logitech Type+ wireless keyoard connecting to Win 7 Home Premium.

As per Maria's comments, disabling and then enabling the wireless keyboard offers a workaround. On my keyobard (the Type+) there's a handy "keyboard" function key that I can use which is less clumsy than resetting the bluetooth connection.

Here is a work around that I found in another thread contributed by David Landisman. It worked for me. I suspect that the iOS update is the culprit for these problems as I have seen articles on the bluetooth problems wth iOS 8.

I started having this problem recently as well following an update, but I am not sure if it was the gotomypc update ort an update to IOS itself that introduced the problem.
I have found a workaround that seems to be working consistantly. After accessing the remote PC and getting to the point where I see the half grey screen appears, I turned bluetooth off and the grey area was replaced with the virtual keyboard. At this point I turn bluetooth back on and the virtual keyboard collapses and the bluetootk keyboard continues to work.
While this does work, it is not a great solution as it has to be done each time you connect remotely.

Has anyone found anything by playing with the iPad settings that is more permanent?
I am guessing not and that we will need to wait for another software update.

Folks, like some others from a couple of years ago, I am having trouble making my Zagg bluetooth keyboard attached to an iPad Air2 using iOS 8.1.2 work in a GoToMyPC session without tapping the on-screen keyboard icon, which then blanks out half the screen but does allow the keyboard to work. I was able to use the keyboard just fine without the blank half-screen until a GTMPC update a few months ago. Any idea when that might be corrected? Thank you!

I'm trying to use a bluetooth keyboard with GoToMyPC app on my ipad. When I click the keyboard icon at the top in the MY PC app a gray screen pops up from the bottom as if I'm trying to use the ipad keyboard. This gray box covers the bottom half of the screen and I can't get it to lower. Is there a setting I can change so that I don't have half my screen covered by a gray box when using my bluetooth keyboard?

Same here. Only occurred after updating to iOS 8. my Zagg keyboard works but can't use the arrows & shortcut keys. Please fix this!!!

I am having the same problem. Only started happening after I upgradedto iOS 8 and installed the iOS 8,.1 upgrade as well. I have a belkin keyboard that no longer works on gotomypc and when I try to use the screen keyboard it pulls up blank.
