How can I connect to my Host from a Chromebook?

I have a new Samsung Chromebook... and the GoToMyPC application will not work... I'm receiving an error message "No plug-in available to display this content".

Please advise

I watched a online webinar from Citrix and Google Chrome talking about the great interface from Chromebooks to XenDesktop for remote control of a desktop machine. They even tote the fact that once you are connected you can even run Go To My Pc. Citrix can do it. They realize the benefit of Chromebooks for minimum technical support. And yet they will not address request from loyal GTMP user for a Chromebook app Viewer.

This Blog is up to 4 years old. The monitor Glen has been unable to get even an estimate or progress report on a Viewer. All of us have been patient but now it is time to act.

Please contact Sean Donahue at citrix and tell him we are tired of waiting and a Chromebook GTMP Viewer would be an even simpler solution than XenDesktop. I will update this blog with direct contact information as soon as I can confirm it.

Chrome Remote Desktop has made huge improvements. I ditched GTMPC and use Chrome Remote Desktop.

If you haven't already purchased the Chromebook then you should check out the HP stream which runs windows and GTMPC. The cost is the same.

Thank you. This does seem to work fairly well, based on a brief test. I cannot use 100% of my screen (white bar at top), there is a double mouse pointer, and vertical scrolling does not work as expected. Have not tried printing.

Don't have the technical background to know if there are security implications. Assume we would have to manually install updates, but the release of this tool should mean that an official release would be straightforward?

Google just released a tool to convert Android apps to Chrome apps (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2905297/heres-how-to-run-android-apps-on-chrome-with-googles-new-tool...) and I've had quite a lot of success running the GoToMyPC Android app on my Chrome OS devices. I've been able to connect to my host computer and control it with no issues.

Two years ago the Official Response was that “We have plans to add a new non Java based Universal Viewer, it will work on Chromebooks”. Here we are two years later with nothing. I resent the fact that you continue to string people along.

GoToMyPC is not a low end solution, we pay a premium for the perceived better service that I thought GoToMyPC was offering. Now, as I prepare for vacation I am researching how to utilize GoToMyPC with my new ChromeBook only to find you have made no attempts to resolve this issue that has been around for two years. That is not good service.

If you would have come out and just said “the investment into developing an HTML5 Chrome viewer doesn’t make sense given the number of Chromebooks sold” I might have some lingering respect for you. But to just stringing everyone along is disrespectful and dishonorable.

I avoid doing business with companies who don’t treat their customers respectfully.

We have 24 user plan at our company. We will be discontinuing this because of a lack of Chromebook support and switching to Logmein, Very disappointed in Gotomypc - contacting my corprorate account manager later this afternoon. 2 years is too long to wait.

I am only a consumer but....No...it is not coming..........I have been waiting over a year...getting run around. we used it in our cpa practice...... did not renew our plans after having been a loyal customer for years

Have used gotomypc in my professional practice for years and it is supported by my law firm with a corporate plan. I can (and do) use chrome remote desktop on my chromebook (since this remains my most used device away from my office desktop) but am still waiting for the citrix platform to be available on the chromebook. Is it really coming? I was finally able to get gotomypc on my android phone through a google app, though that seemed to take years as well.

Hi Mike, if that was remotely true we would not have added support for Mac hosts or iOS and Android clients. It simply comes down to prioritizing development resources. There were previous discussions about a HTML5 web client but appears to have been moved down the priority list, which is why it is no longer listed as Planned in the Ideas section. If that changes I will update the status.

Glen forgot to tell you (for the last two years) that gotomypc will never support Chromebook. They are a Microsoft partner - 1) not allowed to support Chrome OS; 2) apparently not allowed to tell you!

Read Glen's posts on this topic over the lawst two years. ETA=BS. There is no development team working on a Chrome OS solution. Thanks Glen for wasting our time!

I did not renew my subscription because of this. I had been a devoted gotomypc user for years...as well as had many clients sign up for the service.
