Yealink supports having different ringtones to differentiate between internal and external incoming calls. However, they require that this feature also be supported by the VoIP service, which is not something GoToConnect currently supports.
You can create a directory on a user's phone with those other internal stations. In the directory, you'll be able to change the ring tone for the caller. After that, download the directory into a file and you can log into the web interface for each phone and upload the directory. It's not great but it works.
about 100 users with Yealink T54W phones
@Khams1 How many users are we talking? How many Yealink Phones? what models? There is a work around on it. Its not a prefect solution but I've done it for some of my customers.
Hi @Khams1 Welcome to the Community.
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your feedback. At this time, GoTo Connect does not offer the ability to set different ringtones for internal vs. external calls on Yealink phones. We've moved your comment over to our idea thread for our product team to review, so your request is on their radar. If there are any updates in the future, we’ll be sure to share them in the thread. Thanks again for your input!
I just migrated from Broadvoice to Goto Connect and I swear in the sales demo they said the software could handle different ringtones for internal or external calls. But now I'm being told that no it's not possible. Is that really the case? I figured that was a standard feature for all digital platforms these days. I've got a lot of upset users right now because they relied on the sound que for internal calls frequently.
@Character welcome to the community. Currently, this is not on the roadmap. I've shared your feedback with the team and we will continue to monitor interest. I will update the Community when I have an update.
We have used GoTo for a number of years now, as we grow this limitation feels more and more noticeable. What is the likelihood of this becomes a feature in the near future?
Hi everyone - the team is aware of this limitation and the interest for this feature. While not on the roadmap currently, we will continue to review comments. Please VOTE if you haven't yet to show your interest, it does help. Thanks.
I started doing that and it was working great...until.. someone changes and now the name is wrong
All GoTo would have to do is push the extension list to a local directory called "Intercom" and set it to ring2
The steps are:
Click on "Directory"
Choose "Local Directory"
At this point you can create a group and call it "Internal" if you want to have a group for internal calls or just leave everything in "All Contacts"
Select the group where you want these contacts to go
Click Add
You can then enter the information for each user and the number will be their GoTo line number.
Other information --
If you add a group, then you can change the ringer sound for the entire group. You can also change it for each user if you wish but you can leave it on "auto" and it will follow the ringer sound of the group it's in.
If you don't create a group and put those users in the group then you'll need to make sure that you change the ringer for each user that you add.
Bradh - can you show me how you did this? Have an install being held up because I can't figure this out! T46U phones....
I ended up doing what Brad suggested but agree it's a bit time consuming to implement/maintain. We don't have too many users that are concerned with having different ring tones so that's what we're going to run with for now. Thanks all!
Another thing that you can do is to create a directory of the internal user and then you can give the directory entry its own ring sound. I've done that for small offices. It's a little more difficult when it's a large customer.
How I get around this is I will create a line key and program that line key on anyone who needs to receive those calls as a button on their phone. I then create a dial plan for that number to point to that ext number. Then on the Yealink phone I can set the ring tone for the line to what I want it to be. I can do a GoToMeeting if you would like to see how I do it. Let me know.
Thank you,
Michael Adams
I came here to post the same thing. This would be very helpful.
