Occasionally, I need to utilize ASL interpreters in a live training class. It can be challenging for the hearing impaired attendee to see the interpreters, as the video windows are limited in size. Add to that, I'm sharing my screen with the course material, which takes up space on the attendee's view screen. Furthermore, the attendee can only pin one video window at a time. Most trainings require at least two interpreters who trade off in 10-20 minute intervals. And, finally, sometimes the interpreters need to translate the class test, as ASL is its own language and the attendee may not be versed in written English (closed captioning is NOT a substitute for ASL interpreters). I would suggest you consult with some Americans with Disabilities (ADA) experts on creating a more conducive virtual training environment for using ASL interpreters. If nothing else, allowing an attendee to pin multiple video windows.
