Hi Resolve Community,
Last week, we rolled out a bunch of improvements to GoTo Resolve to make your workflow smoother and more efficient. Check out what's new below and let us know what you think!
Resolve - New user-level permission settings related to Device Management
Admins can now control whether agents are allowed to rename devices, edit labels, edit device notes, and wake devices via new user-level settings as a preparation for the upcoming condition-based device targeting.
Where to find it?
GoTo Admin → People (menu) → Users (sub-menu) → Select a User → Settings (tab)
- Background access features (section)
- Device management (section)
- Rename device
- Edit labels
- Edit device notes
Windows Location Tracking
We're expanding GoTo Resolve's Windows device management capabilities — and we're taking a different approach. Rather than asking you to replace your existing MDM tools, we're delivering standalone, high-value features that work independently alongside whatever you're already using, including Microsoft Intune. No enrollment required.
IT admins can now track the real-time location of managed Windows devices directly from the Resolve console — using GPS, Wi-Fi, or IP — without changing a thing about your existing MDM setup.
What's included:
- Location tracking policy — Create and push a policy to enable location tracking on Windows devices, scoped to individual devices or device groups.
- Real-time location on device details — GPS and Wi-Fi location displayed on a map with an accuracy source badge and copyable coordinates.
- Two location sources, clearly separated — Precise location (GPS or Wi-Fi) and IP location are shown separately, so you always know exactly what you're looking at.
- Locate Now — Trigger an immediate location refresh from the device detail page or device list drawer when the device is online.
- Stale data warning — A ⚠️ flag appears if location data hasn't updated in more than 7 days, so you're never working off outdated information.
In-session file management from side panel
The in-session file browser just got a major upgrade: technicians now get the full enhanced file manager experience right inside the remote session, with search, file preview, properties, and drag-and-drop into folders, replacing the legacy browser.
Key features:
- Search
- Right-click context menu
- Bulk selection and operations
- Drag and drop into current folder or sub-folder (from local device to remote device)
- Preview mode for text files and pictures
- Process history
- Renaming files/folders
- Deleting files/folders
On macOS, protected folders are hidden in File Manager unless the unattended applet has been granted Full Disk Access. Technicians had no way to tell whether the permission was in place, so missing files or folders looked like a bug rather than a permissions gap, leading to confusion and wasted troubleshooting. File Manager now shows the device's Full Disk Access state directly on the page.
Mac - Full disk access state indicator in File Manager
Technicians can now see at a glance whether a Mac device has granted Full Disk Access when using File Manager.
File Manager now displays the device's Full Disk Access status directly on the page, so you can immediately see whether a permission gap is the cause before spending time investigating further.
Severity Based Policy Filtering
Windows Update Policies in GoTo Resolve now support reliable, CVE-backed severity filtering — so you can confidently automate patch deployment based on real risk data.
IT admins and MSPs managing Windows patch policies at scale can now build severity-based automation they can trust — no more manual risk triage to compensate for missing or inconsistent severity data.
Patch severity for Windows OS updates is now derived from CVE/CVSS scores rather than the Microsoft-sourced severity field. Each patch is evaluated against its associated CVEs, and the highest CVSS base score determines its severity label:
- Critical — CVSS 9.0–10.0
- High — CVSS 7.0–8.9
- Medium — CVSS 4.0–6.9
- Low — CVSS 0.1–3.9
- None / Unspecified — CVSS 0.0 or no associated CVE
No action needed
If you already have Windows Update Policies filtering by severity, they're automatically remapped to the new labels. Nothing breaks, nothing needs to be reconfigured.
Availability: Generally available for Windows OS patches. Third-party and application patches are not in scope for this release.
