Hello all, hopefully someone can shed some light on this issue. =( I tried searching for the exact error in the forum, but did not find a match, so here goes:
The error message in its entirety is:
"Remote Control cannot connect to this Windows terminal session. This is a known issue with Windows 2000 and Windows XP, and can occur under certain, fairly rare conditions. To remedy this situation, have the local user switch to a different session (by, for example, logging on or off) or reboot the computer."
When the message window appears, the session locks up and cannot be cleared remotely. Sometimes the error disappears after a few minutes, but I have been unable to determine if this is in any way due to local user intervention. I have asked local users on several occasions if there is any prompt that appears on their screen, but have been told no.
It usually happens several minutes into a rescue session, seemingly when trying to perform a task that may require Admin rights approval, but again, no prompts appear for the remote user.
Additionaly, i have encountered the problem under circumstances different than what is stated in the error message:
- It occurs during sessions on Win7 machines most often for me, indicating it is not just a 2000/XP issue as the message states
- I have encountered it probably close to a dozen times so far, which doesnt make it "fairly rare" in my opinion
- Rebooting the PC (at least doing so remotely from the rescue console) does not seem to help, as the session does not reconnect
Any help or input would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
