Logmein restarts even though startup set to no and task manager used to end program.

Hi,

I look after a friend's machine remotely. She is very cautious about security and I would rather not have access to her computer without her taking action her end. I'd casually advised her to turn off start-up at switch on but noticed her machine available on my panel.

Having connected, I used her Task Manager to kill the application, which disconnected me. Sadly I could restart the application just by trying reconnection.

Is their a setting that positvely block access without some manual action being taken on the remote machine?

There are a couple of options for you here-

You may have her power off LogMeIn and leave it off until she needs you to access her computer remotely. To toggle LogMeIn on or off: Open LogMeIn (Start > All Programs > LogMeIn), click the Overview tab, and click the Turn Off (or Turn On) button. This state will not change unless manually changed by her (even through a reboot).

Another option you may consider is changing how her computer reacts when you attempt to connect to it. You may have it where it prompts her to either allow or decline a remote session, every time you attempt to connect and if she doesn't respond, it will decline by default. Yes. Uninstall the client. It's easy enough to reinstall later if needed.
