Block incoming connections but not outgoig?

My company wants to block incoming LogMeIn connections (that is, employees should not be able to remote in to their work compters from outside our firewall). But we do want to allow outgoing connections (because we use LogMeIn to support some of our own customers).

The official LogMeIn help suggests blocking traffic to secure.logmein.com. I tried this but it has the opposite effect: outbound logmein sessions are blocked (because you can't even access the website), but inbound connections are still being accepted.

I understand that blocking secure.logmein.com will prevent new installations of LogMeIn, but I am not seeing any way to block incomming connections to existing installations of LogMeIn. Is this possibe?

Hi Sean,

The admin template is not an option for us since we aren't using a domain and people also bring in laptops. We support some customers who have their own installations of Free and/or Pro but it's not our main avenue of support.

Forutnately it turns out that our Sonicwall router has an App Control feature that will detect and block LogMeIn connections. It blocks outgoing connections too, but we can live with that (we can exclude one or two machines for remote support use).

For internal computers, they should use our Admin Template and block the installation of LogMeIn entirely via Group Policy. This doesn't affect the plugin.

This is a trickey thing to block connections, as both incoming and outgoing are handled by the same servers.

Are you using LogMeIn to get access outside computers, or LogMeIn Rescue?

Sean, they do need to use LogMeIn as a (web-based) client for outgoing connections to our customers. But there is no need to have LogMeIn installed locally on any computer. However since some employees already have LogMeIn installed, and others may bring in their laptops running LogMeIn, we are looking for a general way to block incoming connection attempts.
