Our organization uses both Microsoft Teams and GoTo Connect. While the existing Microsoft 365 calendar integration helps keep meeting availability aligned, it does not synchronize actual Teams presence status.
We would like the ability for GoTo Connect to automatically mirror a user's Microsoft Teams presence, including statuses such as:
- Available
- Busy
- In a Meeting
- Do Not Disturb
- Away
- Offline
This would help users avoid maintaining separate statuses in multiple applications and would provide a more consistent experience across communication platforms.
Business Impact
- Improves user productivity by eliminating manual status updates.
- Reduces confusion when colleagues see different availability states in Teams and GoTo.
- Encourages adoption of GoTo Connect in organizations that are heavily invested in Microsoft 365 and Teams.
- Creates a more seamless unified communications experience.
Example Use Cases
- A user manually sets their Teams status to Do Not Disturb while focusing on a project. GoTo Connect should automatically reflect the same status so coworkers and callers receive a consistent indication of the user's availability.
- A user joins a Microsoft Teams call with a client or coworker. Because they are actively engaged in a conversation, GoTo Connect should automatically update their status to Do Not Disturb (or another configurable busy status) to prevent incoming GoTo calls from interrupting the Teams call.
- A user is presenting or sharing their screen during a Teams meeting, webinar, or client presentation. In this scenario, GoTo Connect should automatically honor the Teams presentation status and suppress interruptions by setting the user to Do Not Disturb until the presentation has ended.
- When the Teams call or presentation ends, GoTo Connect should automatically return the user to the appropriate availability status.
Requested Enhancement
Provide native integration with Microsoft Teams presence APIs to keep GoTo Connect presence synchronized with Teams in near real time, with optional admin controls to determine synchronization direction and precedence. The choice of opting in or out should be user preference.
