Been getting a lot of spoofed calls coming in with seemingly no real way to filter them.
- With a number attached to the call, they cannot be filtered by an anonymous call filter
- With significant quantities of varied numbers coming in, individual filtering/blocking would be moot
- When calls come in "from" various area codes, applying a filter with a pattern block or wildcard is impossible as it would block most numbers from actual and potential customers in the spoofed region
- When there is a human being on the other end of the line, an auto-attendant only MIGHT solve the issue (depends on how the number was dialed)
The only idea that I can think of that could work for some of these types of calls/campaigns is to add the ability within call filters to block by Caller ID Name/Line Identifier Text.
In the cases that made me want to bring this up as a feature idea/request, the only consistency in the calls has been that the Caller ID Name/Line Identifier Text is the same (i.e. "BUSINESSCSTMR"). If the ability to filter calls by the Caller ID Name/Line Identifier Text was available, it would simplify the blocking process for when one of these types pops up, and could be easily modified when another takes its place. while still not permanently blocking any actual numbers in the area. it would also help in blocking numbers that are leased from proxy services for these campaigns because the spammers/scammers rarely take the time to change the Line Identifier.
I will put a redacted screenshot of what I myself have gotten in the past approximately 24 hours (I have redacted our numbers and extensions, but have left the spoofed numbers and Caller ID to show the variations and consistencies).
